Applicants should complete a single application form to be considered for both the Alexandra M. Munn Scholarships and John & Andrea Wallin Awards.
In order to meet the criteria for an award, applicants must:
Be a permanent resident or citizens of Canada;
Be a resident of the greater Edmonton area or be studying with a teacher in the greater Edmonton area;
Be between the ages of 11 and 15 (inclusive) on the application deadline;
Be pursuing classical music study;
Have outstanding talent in classical music performance (vocal and/or instrumental); and
Be experiencing financial need which would restrict their ability to pursue classical music study.
What is the application process?
Applications will be reviewed based on written submissions. Applicants who meet the criteria will be invited to participate in an interview and performance at a time and venue to be announced. Performances should be of a maximum duration of 20 minutes and include repertoire from three different musical styles.
What documents do I need to provide?
A signed & dated reference letter from a music teacher or music organization.
Note that before payment can be made, the recipient must provide a valid social Insurance Number.
How are awards paid?
Awards are intended to assist recipients with costs related to study of classical music. Payment will be made to the student or on the student’s behalf, as best suited to the recipient’s situation. Recipients may be asked to provide receipts to demonstrate the award was allocated as intended by the awards panel.
The deadline for the applications is May 15
All applications must be received by the Edmonton Community Foundation by the deadline. If May 15 falls on a weekend, applications will be accepted until 11:59 pm the following business day.
